Minted Memory
Drawn from coins saved in my childhood, these works begin with objects once treasured not only for their monetary worth but for their intricate beauty—designed symmetry, typography, and the authority of traditional symbols. The works are developed from staged photography and the digital manipulation and layering of histories until they loose their original meaning. The precise emblems of value transform into new ideas—their crowns, shields, and lettering merging into a new composition. Through this process, the coins are conceptually shifted and passed through time, becoming contemporary, vibrant meditations on currency, memory, and the slow erosion of power’s symbols.
